2023 Volvo Cars

2022 is already halfway over, and car companies are finally releasing details about their upcoming 2023 models. Volvo is ahead of the game: The automaker has announced information about its entire 2023 lineup, and every vehicle offers a mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or fully electric powertrain. Let’s go over each model and see what’s new.

1. 2023 Volvo S60 [sedan]

Volvo offers the S60 as both a mild-hybrid and a PHEV. The latter gets up to 41 miles of range and as much as 455 hp.

2. 2023 Volvo S90 [sedan]

The S90 is similar to the S60 but features more interior space and a few extra standard features. Its base engine is also more powerful, boasting 295 hp. Like every other 2023 model, the S90 has built-in Google Assistant and the Maps app.

3. 2023 Volvo V60 [wagon]

Volvo shows that the V60 looks unchanged for 2023, minus some updated styling cues. Mild-hybrid and PHEV powertrains are available, and both have standard AWD. The V60 offers a generous amount of passenger space and an upscale cabin, making it a bargain at around $40,000.

4. 2023 Volvo V90 [wagon]

The 2023 Volvo V90 is even longer than the V60, offering nearly three feet of rear legroom. Riders have almost 39 inches of headroom too.

Its cargo capacity is actually smaller than the V60’s cargo area, but 54 cubic feet is still sufficient. Standard power comes from a 250-hp turbo-four.

5. 2023 Volvo V60 Cross Country [wagon]

Volvo says its Cross Country variants are upgraded to include rear air suspension, a special off-roading mode, and hill descent control. It’s probably not suitable for serious off-roading, but the V60 Cross Country can probably handle some light trail cruising.

6. 2023 Volvo V90 Cross Country [wagon]

The 2023 Volvo V90 Cross Country is the same as the V90 but with extra ride enhancements. It also has Google capabilities like the rest of its siblings, plus over-the-air updates.

7. 2023 Volvo XC40 [small crossover SUV]

It comes standard with a smaller T4 engine, capable of 184 hp, and the optional T5 makes 248 hp. The Volvo XC40 is also the first model in the lineup to win European Car of the Year, according to Volvo. With the T5 engine, the XC40 has an impressive towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.

8. 2023 Volvo XC60 [small crossover SUV]

The 2023 XC60 is now standard with Recharge tires. Volvo claims these tires require less energy, saving fuel and reducing emissions. The XC60 has three powertrain options, with the most powerful T8 engine harnessing 455 hp.

9. 2023 Volvo XC90 [midsize crossover SUV]

The XC90 is the automaker’s only three-row SUV, though Volvo still classifies it as a midsize offering. It rides on slightly larger wheels than the XC60, but most interior features are identical. PHEV models get 35 miles of electric-only driving.

10. 2023 Volvo XC40 Recharge [electric small crossover]

The XC40 Recharge is Volvo’s electric version of the XC40, featuring a redesigned bumper equipped with LED lighting. Single-motor models are rated for 262 miles of range, while the dual-motor cars have 223 miles of range. Volvo says that it only takes a half-hour to replenish 70% of the battery with fast-charging.

11. 2023 Volvo C40 Recharge [electric small crossover]

Volvo calls the C40 Recharge its first pure electric car. This underrated crossover gets 225 miles of range and produces a combined 402 hp with its two standard electric motors. This SUV is much sportier than the XC40 Recharge, boasting a lower, sloping roofline and a 0-60 mph time of under 5 seconds.
