This application can sometimes use your location even when you do not have it open. As well as being a privacy concern, it can also drain your battery. It is good practice to keep an eye on the location sharing settings of your phone just as a precaution.

There is also a direct messaging service you can use to message or call your friends, but it isn't available on the main app, rather you have to install the Facebook Messenger app which can be frustrating. However, this was probably done to help declutter the display.
