Launching tomorrow [Jan. 10th] is a brand new velvet lipstick formula from Colourpop. The Velvet Blur Lux Lip is a matte lipstick with a soft focus finish. It delivers rich colour with a matte blurred look that feels velvety soft. There are a total of 16 shades in this line that retail for $7 USD. Today I’ll be sharing swatches of the entire collection.
The lipsticks are dressed in similar packaging to the original Lux lipsticks with rose gold casing and star patterns and embossments on the lipsticks. They have included a sticker of the shade colour on the bottom of each lipstick which I appreciate. The shades are pigmented except for two of the light shades which I needed a second application. The formula is not as creamy and hydrating as what I’m use to from the Lux lipsticks. It has a matte finish that leaves a soft blotted look. The Velvet Blur name is quite fitting. I noticed fading in a few hours after light refreshments and the presence of the lipstick became more noticeable. I prefer glossy lips so I prefer to touch it up with a gloss.

This is how it looks on the lip, two swipes of color [SORRY NOT SORRY- that’s the name, not me being a smarty pants ] my lips weren’t prepped and I feel they settled on my semi cracked lips so PREP YOUR LIPS EVERY TIME YOU WEAR LIPSTICK! Use lipbalm, etc. But do it. Don’t expect your lips to look like them perfect pictures online and then blame the lipstick.
