So sánh sima 50 1.4 vs sima 35 1.4 năm 2024

Im thinking about picking up one of these two. Im already familiar with focal length. I tried google all day trying to see if these have different characteristics but nobody have compared them. Can anyone here who have experience with both help out a brother? Thank you May 06, 2020 at 10:53 AM

They're from the same era so I'm sure they're very similar with respects to actual IQ. It just comes down to the focal length you prefer.

The newer Sigma 40mm F1.4 Art and the Sigma 35mm F1.2 Art outclass these lenses. Of course they're even bigger and more expensive.

The 50 has a beautiful and clean bokeh that the 35mm does not have.

The 35 has strong CA the 50mm does not have.

The 35 shows onion rings the 50mm does not have.

...

The 50mm is much much better in terms of rendering, iq, CA...

But it is obviously not the same FL so, it is like comparing an "ok" orange and with a beautiful banana

I really like the 50. Its not as good as the ZA 50, but very close IME.

I opted for the SY 35 over the Sigma. FWIW.

The newer 35 and 40 look stellar, if budget isnt the issue and if either might work for you.

I had the Sigma 50 Art for Canon back when it first came out with all the "like an Otus" hype.

It was a great lens, and just now looking at some of the old pictures, it did have a very smooth background rendering.

I currently have the Sigma 35 f1.2 and I like it as much, if not more. However the difference between 35mm and 50 mm is more than enough that the 35/1.2 couldn't replicate/replace the shots taken with the 50/1.4.

Probably ought to get both

I have the Sigma 40mm F1.4 which rivals the Otus 50mm for a fraction of the price but its extremely large and heavy [even as compared to the large 35mm F1.2 but not as compared to the Otus though].

It splits the difference between the 35 and 50 FLs. In addition to everything else its sharp wide open pretty much corner to corner. Best to handle one before you buy though.

The 50 is better than the 35, both are very good though. The question is 35 or 50.

And yes, the 1.2 obliterates the 1.4 in every way.

The Sony 50/1.4 is better [imo] than the Sigma.

If you are looking or the best optical quality for Sony at this focal length, go for the Sigma 40mm 1.4 if size doesn't matter. The 35 1.2 is not that much smaller at this point and the 40mm 1.4 optics are superior.

The 40mm is twice as heavy as the 35 1.4... I have always dreamed about this lens, but gosh, 1.2kg for a 40mm...

The 40 is a beast, but pretty incredible. I just grabbed one after countless hours spent looking at the Sony 35 1.8; 40mm Batis and the Sigma 40 1.4. My first Sigma and my first Non-Native lens purchase ever.

I think the 40 1.4 kills to 35 1.2; if you're ok with carrying the 35 1.2, better off keep lifting weights and get the 40 with its superior optical quality.

Technically superior [sharpness, correction] but not rendering-wise so depends on what you value more

"Not rendering wise"....please explain? Technically superior, yes in sharpness and correction....the rendering is a matter of personal preference.

From what I've seen here 35mm f1.2 has smoother rendering in general, i.e. bokeh, transitions, etc.
