- - Viết tắt: There is not = There’s not = There isn’t
- - Ở thể phủ định, there isn't được dùng nhiều hơn

- - Viết tắt: there are = there're
- Trước danh từ đếm được số nhiều, thường có số từ từ hai trở lên [two, three, four…] hoặc many [nhiều], a lot of [rất nhiều], a few [một số], some [vài]...

- - There are twenty members online now

Lưu ý:
- Viết tắt: There are not = There’re not = There aren’t
There are not + any/many/ từ chỉ số lượng + danh từ đếm được số nhiều
- - There aren't many animals in the zoo
- - There are not three horses in the race. Nghi vấn
Dạng Yes/No:
Are there any + danh từ đếm được số nhiều?
- Are there any pets in your family?
Dạng How-many:

3.1. There is + someone/ anyone/ no one/ something/ anything/ nothing
Mục đích: dùng để nói về có ai đó/ bất cứ ai/ không ai/ thứ gì đó/ bất cứ thứ gì/ không gì cả.
Ví dụ:
- - There's someone on the phone for you. [Có ai đó đang chờ máy bạn]
- - Is there anything wrong with you? [Có chuyện gì với bạn vậy?]
- - There's something odd with this letter. [Bức thư này có gì đó lạ lắm]
3.2. There + is + Noun/ something/ someone/...+ mệnh đề quan hệ/ to- Infinitive
Ví dụ:
- - There is a film I want to see. [Có một bộ phim tôi muốn xem]
- - There is nothing to do here. [Ở đây chẳng có gì làm cả]
- - There is something I must say. [Có mấy điều tôi phải nói]

3.3. There is a number of + danh từ số nhiều
Mục đích: Dùng để muốn nhấn mạnh tổng thể nhóm.
Ví dụ: There is a number of unnamed stars in our galaxy. [nhấn mạnh từng ngôi sao trong số những ngôi sao chưa được đặt tên]
3.4. There are a number of + danh từ số nhiều
Mục đích: Dùng để nhấn mạnh tới từng thành viên trong nhóm.
Ví dụ: There are a number of unnamed stars in our galaxy. [nhấn mạnh tất cả các ngôi sao chưa được đặt tên]
3.5. There is/are + a number of = There is/are a variety of + danh từ số nhiều
Mục đích: dùng để chỉ tập hợp/ nhóm.
Ví dụ:
- There is a wide variety of flavors to choose from.
- There are a variety of unique destinations we can visit.
