How to check model of HP laptop

If you are one of those people who use their laptops for work, it means the device is used frequently, and at some point, it will need to be repaired. To do so, you may need to buy certain parts for your laptop. To choose the right parts, you have to know which model do you own. In this article, we are going to talk about how to check model of HP laptop, as the HP laptops are the most common for people who use it for work.

If you dont know which model of HP laptop you own, here are some solutions on how to check it. You can look to the bottom of your device and find the label, or perhaps remove the battery and find the label with the model name written there.

When it comes to the HP devices, there is an HP Support Assistance software, or you can just use System Information. If none of these solutions doesnt work for you, you can always open the bottom case and find the model name down there. To be sure that you are looking at the right mark, always look for a P/N sign. Now, we are going to explain each of these ways of checking the HP laptop model.

Using System Information

If you are using System Information to check your HP laptop model, here are a couple of steps you should follow. First, you should start the option Run. You can find it on the Start menu. There will be shown a window where you need to type msinfo32 and then press OK. Doing so, you will get to the Windows System Information utility, where you are going to see all about your HP laptop model.

Another way to find out about your laptop model is to press types Fn and Esc on your keyboard. It is a shortcut to HP System Information. The window that opens will show you a lot of information. As you are seeking for the model name and number, you should find the section named Product Number. The number should contain the # sign, and that is how you will recognize the right information about what you are looking for.

A great way to get the information about the model of your HP laptop is to have the HP Support Assistance. This is a software that helps you with any questions about your HP device, and when you open it, it shows your model number as well as the other information.

Look under the battery

If your laptop has a removable battery, you should take it out from the case and look for the model number. There should be a label with information on it. It also can be placed at the battery itself. You are looking for the sign P/N. This mark says that you have the right model number in front of you.

Look at the bottom of the laptop

Many HP laptops have the label with the model number on the bottom. Looking for the model name and number you should see a P/N sign, same as one under the battery. Make sure that you turn your laptop upside-down of the soft surface so it doesnt break. These labels we are talking about are mostly white or silver.

If any of these solutions dont work for you, you may need to open your laptops bottom case. If you need to do so, turn your device off and remove the battery. Take a small screwdriver and remove perimeter screws slowly. Put them on the safe place, and gently lift up your laptops bottom.

In the left corner, you are going to see the label with the laptops model name and number and other specs. There should be a P/N prefix.

When you get the information you needed, close up the laptop and check if you have done it properly before turning it on again.
