2023 Kia K5 Reddit

Called a Kia dealership, ‘23 will only have a minor change with with sunroof on the GT-Line being optional. He described it as a minor change and no Digital Display.

An important note: The Sonata was Hyundai’s bread and butter, after the switch from the last gen 2018-2019, the 2020+ sales have plummeted by half.

I read a Korean site that detailed notes of discussions at Hyundai corp. and they are not doing a midcycle refresh and are going straight to a new generation. Apparently the Sonata’s design and execution was so bad that it caused controversy within Hyundai. I agree, I have a 2019 2.0t Limited, and I would not opt for an N-Line because the options were not par with a limited trim. Disappointing, plus the Civic-like back was a major turn off.

This said, best guess is that Kia will likely fall in line where a new Sonata generation comes first, then a K5 six months later. This historical pattern reinforces that the ‘23 will likely be a minor refresh without anything like a mid cycle redesign with the digital display or additional powertrain options.

Is it worth paying the extra for that? I'm mostly attracted to the engine and horsepower.

Also does the car have 360 camera and parking sensors? Test drove a GT-Line and it didn't and that was pretty upsetting.

Today I was driving to work. Took a turn (45 mph) and got revs. Pulled to the side, went to manual mode, park, car off, tried it all. About 5 minutes later I got it to go and got a clunk on what felt like the drivers side rear end. Felt like a tranny problem. 500 miles on the car. Dealership won’t take it till November 5th unless it absolutely shit. Happened once before very briefly but went into manual and fixed right away, about the same speed. Any advice is welcomed

My FW GT-line is about to be totalled by the insurance company. I'm questioning whether to get the AWD, do you have any personal experience as to whether the 1.6L Turbo is powerful enough for the AWD?

(i like the gas mileage of the 1.6L in the GT-line, i haven't really considered the 2.1L in the GT)

I bought a new Kia K5 around a week ago. 2 days ago I made a trip to New Jersey to see some friends, it was a 3hour trip and around 400 miles (round trip). On the way back home the check engine light turned on and on the screen it said there was an issue with the power train. I had been using cruise control for probably 90% of the trip as well as the auto steering function.

I noticed during the drive that the car was not accelerating properly (even if I absolutely floored it, the rpm would go high but the car itself wouldn’t actually accelerate very much)

Other than that I had used the car for normal city driving (and not for very long either as I’ve only had the car a week.) My question is what could have caused this? It’s quite upsetting to have a brand new car already break down after such sparing use. Is this something I should seriously worry about for the future of this car?

I know I’m going to get a better answer once the mechanic looks at it, but I was hoping to hear any similar experiences or outside insight while I still wait. This has all been pretty stressful for me

Hey everyone, my K5 finally arrived and I went to pick it up yesterday at the dealership. I ordered it on August 13, so it took a little over a month. After months of doing research, looking up videos, and going through Reddit, I can now say I am a proud Kia owner lol.

I just want to mention (I know it’s not the point of this thread) but congrats to you all! Back in 2021 I had to wait 3 months for my ‘22 Gt-line with premium package and it was well worth the wait! You all are going to enjoy this amazing car.

Genuine question , when you accelerate does it even slightly suck you back in the seats? Or does it just feel like a normal car

Had been looking for a 22 Gt-line AWD premium pkg (wolf gray with black interior) for a month with no success. Went into the dealership expecting to order one with 2-3 month lead time. They told me i walked in on the perfect day, I reserved a 23 model being delivered on Aug 8th!

Put a deposit down on a White GT in Ohio on 5/2. Couldn't assure me of any time frame until order was allocated but said it's typically anywhere from 3-6 months. Got an update last week that they stopped making 22's so mine will be a 23, $300 price increase. Just got an email yesterday that my production was scheduled with an ETA of 7/31.

Wait for a GT?!!! That’s actually insane
