I am looking at buying a new lense for my 300D. The two lenses I am considering are the Canon 24-85mm & 28-135mm IS Lense.
Has anyone used/compared these lenses and if so which would one would you go for...? Or are there any others which I should consider for around the same money £200-300.

Matt [nomoregravy] has the 28-135IS, as do I. IIRC his autosport shots wee taken with it.
Nice lens, IS definitely helps in low light but if you look through it for too long you start to feel sea sick

Ok I have the standard 18-55mm Canon which came with the camera and a sigma 70-300mm 4-5.6APO.
I guess I want a lense which will be better quality than the 18-55 with a slightly larger zoom.
The plan is to leave the new lense on the camera as an everyday lense, holiday/paddock & new baby pics [when it arrives!].
Another question - do you know if the tele-convertors can be used with both these lenses?

Sigma 12-24 DG HSM Canon 28-135 IS Canon 100 Macro Canon 100-400L IS
I've taken more images with the 28-135 than all the others put together. However, and it is a big however, I end up taking "Snaps" with the 28-135 and "Photographs" with the others. HTH.

planning to sell my 24-85mm usm lens,and buy a 28-135mm IS usm, will
that be a good , reasonable upgrade ? i know i'll lose 4mm on the
wide side,but i really seldom get to use 24mm [too much distortion
and vignetting on this particular lens of mine anyway].please
enlighten me on this subject of comparison.specs ,focusing speed,and
picture quality.oh and prices too, please.will i be able to blur the
background and get a reasonable bokeh ? i also know this lens can't

28-135 cho ảnh màu sắc ổn, dãy tiêu cự đa dụng nhưng hơi hẹp nếu xài crop chụp đám tiệc thì hơi mệt, có usm và is. tại 135mm f5.6 xóa phông cũng ok lắm. xài crop nên mua 17-85 hơn vì dãy tiêu cự dễ xài
lens 28-135 này xài một thời gian sẽ tuột zoom khi cầm máy hướng ống kính xuống, hút bụi, dễ đứt zoom nếu ai có thói quen chụp mấy vật trên cao mà xoay zoom đột ngột mạnh. có 1 lỗi error-xx gì đó mình ko nhớ làm treo máy, tắt máy mở lại thì chụp tiếp ok.
mình xài lens này dc hơn 1 năm, đứt zoom 1 lần, lau bụi 2 lần, lỗi treo máy khoảng 5-6 lần j đó. bi giờ ko xài nữa nhưng 4.5tr cho lens này thì ok so với ảnh mà nó mang lại
