If your units are extremely !@#$!@# dirty due to reasons like being just next to a major road with heavy traffic/expressway/construction etc, then it might NOT be possible for the normal evaporative coil cleaners to clean without help from the pressure washer or a good 12V pump. Coz i know some in the thread die die say HDB tap water pressure enough liao, won't get them pumps or are convinced that these would destroy the fins. So in those cases cannot run from the alkaline coil cleaners, which really deep cleans by itself to be honest without needing anything other than low pressure water for flushing.
Just that it is not ok for it to be cleaned with the coil still mounted on the FCU. And of coz the AC tech need to be of a certain technical standard/experience as the dismounting of the coil involves disconnecting and re-connecting the refrigerant copper lines, a process that a blur F bangla can screw up. What happens is that slow gas leaks start happening. By right a 20 year old Aircon also no need to top up gas [of coz if the installation also done by blur F banglas or jihu kias who are none the wiser coz newbies then i can't give any guarantees liao]. There are some who still maintains that an aircon must top up gas at least every few months, it's a consumable....else not cold. I have a colleague who's like that. [totally give up on them liao]
If you clean with non-alkaline and non-acidic chemicals, you can clean daily with them also no problem. The thing is that those are not as powerful, hence needing additional help from moderate to high pressure water. And it's not a race since it's DIY so you can do it whenever you are free. Even if first time cleaning is only 60% clean, no biggie, next time clean 20% more, and 3rd time 10% more, 4th time 5% cleaner, 5th time another 2% cleaner. It will ultimately approach 99.5% clean.....just have to keep it up every month or 2.
The more times you do, the more experience you gain, the faster and more fuss-free it would be. Some folks do the first time, 2hrs for 1 FCU, already say give up too tiring too messy. That's why tell the folks no need to remove tray first [it's sprayable actually without dismounting], no need to dismount the blower...... it's all cleanable to very nearly 100% for those parts no sweat at all.

Directions for use:
- Switch off air-conditioner unit and open windows for ventilation.
- Open casing to remove dirty filters for washing. Use a vacuum cleaner or brush to remove thick layer of dust from cooling fins, if applicable.
- Remove the blue tab found at the top of the can. Shake the can well before use.
- Spray Mr McKenic®-Air Conditioner Cleaner ~10cm away from the fins in a S-motion from top to bottom. Allow 15-20mins for product to penetrate into the interior.
- Replace the cleaned filters and casing. Switch on the air-conditioner unit for about 45-60 minutes to start the cleaning process. Set temperature to 24°C on high-fan mode. For best results, apply product at least once a month. To improve up indoor air quality, use GK-Germkiller® GK-Air onto filters to kill odour-causing bacteria.
