I still use almost the same gadgets as were included in Windows 7 by installing 8GadgetPack
which works fine, only requiring a quick repair after a version Update since MS doesn't like gadgets any more and disables it during the reinstall that takes place during a version Update.
It includes a standard analogue clock. People who I help with installs like also the weather forecast and calendar most. The old Windows 7 style weather forecast can be added from Msn Weather - Windows 7 Desktop Gadget.
I have inquired about gadgets when they were being discontinued and was told they are a security risk, yet I've spent every day for seven years in Forums and never seen a single case of infection via gadgets. Many believe this change was due to MS wanting to vend apps to replace popular features like gadgets, video playback and games that were popular with millions in previous versions.

Don't need it on the start menu or task bar!! WE want it returned to our desktop!! That's the whole point of this discussion!! IF anyone knows of a good site where we can download a desktop clock please let us know!!
