Show This has become my new favorite sunscreen. Based on reviews, I was worried it may be too orange or dark, but the color is perfect. I have a medium complexion, and what I like most is that the coverage replaces my need for foundation when I am attending outside events. Sun protection plus a product that evens out my skin tone. I find the golden tone to this product makes my face look healthier and brighter. If you have very pale skin, this is probably not for you. It goes on smooth, protects very well, and I have no need for any foundation when I wear this tinted sunscreen. The Avène Tinted Fluid SPF is a rather difficult product for me to review as I am not an avid user of tinted sunscreen. Therefore, my review of this product is not based on comparisons with previous experiences I had with tinted spf, it rather is just an overview on how my skin reacted to this specific product. The reason why I decided to use tinted sunscreen is that, after my 20’s, I started to have acne and common sunscreen does not cover imperfections as a foundation does. Other than that, later on when I started to treat my acne with medication, my dermatologist recommended me to use tinted sunscreen more often as most of them contain Zinc Oxide, which protects the skin from the and can prevent hyperpigmentation. However, this sunscreen does not have the Zinc Oxide filter. The Avène Tinted Fluid SPF 50+ does not offer much coverage as a foundation would, but it does even out my complexion. Avène’s website does not mention how many colour options there are for this product, but I could only find 3 colours at the store: one slightly lighter than mine (medium) and the other slightly darker. All of them have the same ‘salmon’ undertone. It retails in Portugal for 16€. In terms of a broad-spectrum UV protection, this SPF does a good job. Even though it has Titanium Dioxide, it is mainly a chemical sunscreen as it contains Tinosorb S, Tinosorb M and Iscotrizinol. Read the full formula here. Out of the realm of UV filters, this sunscreen’s formula is definitely not a favourite of mine. As I mentioned in a previous review of mine, I do my best to avoid skincare with perfume as it can irritate the face, according to my dermatologist. This sunscreen has perfume and guess what? I get a rash every single time I try to use it. I really did my best to use this sunscreen consistently, but as soon as I apply it my skin starts to itch and when I remove it I get a red rash that takes a few days to fade away. To be fair I have to say that I have fairly sensitive skin. But it is not often that a product burns my face like this one does. The Avène Tinted Fluid SPF 50+ is marketed towards sensitive skin but its formula was NOT created based on the needs of people with sensitive skin. Overall I cannot safely recommend this product to anyone, but if you use this product and it is fine for your skin, let me know in the comments section.
