Khi là danh từ đếm được, country mang nghĩa "quốc gia, đất nước".

2. Khi là country là danh từ không đếm được
Khi là danh từ không đếm được, country mang nghĩa "nông thôn".
Ví dụ:
I like wide country best. [Tớ thích những vùng nông thôn hoang dã nhất.]
Với nghĩa này, chúng ta không thể dùng a country hoặc countries.
Ví dụ:
My parents live in nice country near Belfast. [Bố mẹ tớ sống ở vùng nông thôn xinh đẹp gần Belfast.]
Thường dùng cụm the country [nông thôn] trái nghĩa với the town [thành thị].
Ví dụ:
