Ios 12.2 beta 3 review năm 2024

Apple on Wednesday released the third beta of its upcoming iOS 12.2 update to members of its public beta software program.

The public beta version comes just one day after Apple seeded the build to developers. As we covered then, iOS 12.2 beta 3 is fairly light on major changes or updates — but there are still some notable additions.

Changes in iOS 12.2 Public Beta 3

iOS 12.2 beta 3 re-enables Group FaceTime. It also features another redesign of the HomeKit and Apple TV Remote, a new Apple News header, and additional device model information in the About pane in Settings.

It also fixes a bug that caused an iPhone charge indicator to display on the Lock screen rather than the time.

Finally, it seems like the third iOS 12.2 beta will also include a tweak to Siri. More specifically, the digital assistant will begin recommending Today at Apple sessions based on the apps you use and the sites you browse via Safari.

For example, if you use drawing or design apps often, it may suggest an art session. If you’re all-in on health and fitness, it may suggest a wellness session. This behavior can be tweaked via Settings > Siri & Search > Apple Store.

Past iOS 12.2 betas have also included their own share of fairly substantial updates (and hints at upcoming Apple products). These will all likely make it to the final release of iOS 12.2.

There are four new Animoji characters (a giraffe, shark, owl and boar), additional privacy protections in Safari, Apple News support for Canada (in English and French), and AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support for third-party smart TVs. There are also a bunch of design and interface tweaks.

How to Download iOS 12.2 Beta 3

Registered beta testers should now be able to download iOS 12.2 beta 3 as an over-the-air update on iOS devices with the proper certificate.

If you’re interested in testing out Apple software before release, you can sign up for the beta program here.

Beta software can be buggy, so we don’t recommend downloading it on your daily driver. At least back up your device beforehand.

iOS 12.2 itself will likely run through a few more beta builds over the next month or so before its final release to the general public.

Apple on Tuesday seeded the third beta version of its upcoming iOS 12.2 software update to registered developers.

Compared to previous beta builds of iOS 12.2, beta 3 seems relatively light on changes. The tweaks and additions spotted thus far seem to be fairly minor in nature. Here’s everything in the new beta.

Changes in iOS 12.2 Developer Beta 3

  • Group FaceTime has been re-enabled. The first two beta versions of iOS 12.2 won’t work with the feature since Apple killed it in the wake of the spy bug. That means users will need to download iOS 12.2 beta 3 or iOS 12.1.4 to use Group FaceTime.
  • Apple has again redesigned the HomeKit and Apple TV Remote app and Control Center tile. In iOS 12.2 beta 3, it features an overall darker interface.
  • The Apple News app’s header now reads “?News,” instead of “Apple News.”
  • The About menu in the Settings app now lists a device’s model name.
  • Fix for a bug that caused an iPhone’s charge indicator to be displayed on the Lock screen rather than the time.

While beta 3 is light on changes, the broader iOS 12.2 release will feature a slew of new additions.

Past betas of iOS 12.2 included four new Animoji characters, Apple News support for Canada in English and French, AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support for third-party smart TVs, and new scheduling options for Downtime.

Safari has also been refined with additional privacy protections that limit the ability for websites to access an iPhone’s motion and orientation data. The browser now has a new “Not Secure” tag for unencrypted websites and a more convenient Google autofill icon.

Additionally, there is a variety of smaller design changes in iOS 12.2, such as a redesign of the Wallet app’s interface and a new AirPlay icon. You can see a full list of other minor tweaks in our past coverage.

While not technically changes, iOS 12.2 also features some hints at upcoming Apple products — like AirPods 2, new iPads, and an upcoming Apple News subscription service.

iOS 12.2 beta 3 should now be available to download from the Apple Developer Center, or as an over-the-air update on devices with the appropriate configuration profile. A public testing version of beta 3 should be coming soon.

As always, we don’t recommend downloading beta software on your daily driver. But if you do, at least fully back up your device beforehand.

Apple today released the third beta of an upcoming iOS 12.2 update to its public beta testing group, one day after seeding the third beta to developers and two weeks after releasing the second public beta.

Beta testers who have joined Apple's beta testing program will receive the iOS 12.2 beta update over-the-air after installing the proper certificate on an iOS device.

Those who want to download the new beta can do so after signing up for the beta program, which gives access to iOS, macOS, and tvOS betas.

The iOS 12.2 update expands Apple News to Canada for the first time, with Canadian iPhone and iPad users able to access news stories in English, French, or both. It introduces infrastructure for AirPlay 2 and HomeKit on third-party TVs, a feature announced in early January.

The TV remote feature in Control Center has been redesigned to take up the full display of an ‌iPhone‌ (with further tweaks introduced in the third beta), and there are tweaks to the Wallet app with a refined interface and a new look for Apple Pay Cash. Changes have been made to Safari with warnings about unsecured websites and new search arrows, and there's now a setting to set Downtime for apps on a day by day basis.

Apple is improving Safari's privacy in iOS 12.2 through a new Motion & Orientation toggle located under Settings > Safari > Privacy & Security, which is disabled by default. The setting needs to be enabled on to allow websites to display content that relies on motion data from the accelerometer and gyroscope in the ‌iPhone‌ and ‌iPad‌.

There are new Animoji in the second iOS 12.2 beta, including a boar, a shark, a giraffe, and an owl. Animoji can be used within the Messages and FaceTime apps. For some AT&T users, there's a new "5G E" icon for the cellular signal, replacing the standard LTE icon. This is a bit misleading of AT&T, because the ‌iPhone‌ does not support 5G, nor is the network AT&T calls 5G E actual 5G. Instead, it's an upgraded version of LTE, with more info available here.

The third beta revamps the Remote in Control Center with a darker interface, changes the logo of ‌Apple News‌, tweaks the About screen, and includes a new feature that will offer Today at Apple session suggestions via Siri. It also fixes the Group ‌FaceTime‌ bug and reenables Group ‌FaceTime‌ for beta users, and it fixes that pesky Lock screen bug that replaced battery charge with the date.

The iOS 12.2 update will likely see several rounds of beta testing over the course of the next month or so before it launches to the public.
