I am a big fan of Sennheiser's Open Back headphones. I reviewed very few Closed-back headphones of Sennheiser and HD 4.40 is one of them. The name of the Headphones gives enough idea about the features of this headphones. It's 4.0 Bluetooth that seems old-fashioned but are they outdated? Does HD 4.40 justify the brand name? Bottom Line:Sennheiser HD 4.40BT released in 2017. When I planned to review them I saw the release date and a question came in my mind. Does HD 4.40BT worth to buy in 2022? After reviewing all the areas like design, comfort, sound quality, and connectivity I am very good with HD 4.40BT. Appealing design with sturdy build quality. They used high-quality plastic that reflects the look of the headset. HD 4.40BT looks like premium headphones. It's comfortable with thick earpads and an adjustable headband. Though the headband doesn't offer rubber padding inside headband gives a cushion to the head while using it. The sound quality is decent. The bass is decent and punchy though not as punchy as Sony headphones. Mids are balanced, Vocals are crisp and clear. Highs aren't so bright. overall, I am happy to have it. If your ear size is larger than average you may feel slight discomfort as well as poor noise isolation due to the small opening of the earcups. Most important is they just cost $100. These headphones of Sennheiser are better than many other headphones that cost more than $100. I recommend HD 4.40BT if you are looking for passive noise isolation, Comfort, premium look, and decent sound for $100. The overall rating for Sennheiser 4.40BT is 8 out of 10. How is the Design and Build Quality of HD 4.40BT?Entire plastic built made the Sennheiser HD 4.40 very lightweight Audio gear that weighs approximately 220g. It looks premium like all Sennheiser headphones. I am pretty impressed how Sennheiser maintained a premium look and great comfort. I think high-quality plastic is the reason behind that. The headband has rubberized material with a leather coating which also works as a cushion for the head. I didn't feel discomfort even for a single minute after wearing them. The headband is adjustable that gives comfort fit. Earcups are so comfortable with having thick cushioning. I wouldn't prefer an oval-shaped design for earcups because it doesn't make the earcups spacious but HD 4.40 BT has the same kind of earcup design that I will avoid. But they are enough large to avoid sound leakage. A good thing about earpads is they are easily replaceable. Giving replaceable earpads indicates that Sennheiser is very serious about the comfort of the user. On the right earcups, you get a power button, multifunction button, button to control the volume, micro USB input for the charging, and audio input for the wired listening. On the left earcup, you get the NFC panel. Controls are easy to use. Overall I am happy about the design, build, and appearance. most important is they are foldable. HD 4.40 is a perfect headphone for traveling due to its design. Happy to give it 9 out of 10 for its design and build quality. How is the Sound Performance of HD 4.40BT?HD 4.40 is a $100 headset but it sounds better than many other costlier headphones. The bass is punchy but not as punchy as many Sony headphones. If you love the bass these gears will impress you. When I watched movies with HD 4.40 they didn't distort at a lower frequency level. Mids are clear, Instrument separation is good, and Highs aren't bright as I was expecting. Other Sennheiser headphones that I reviewed have bright treble HD 4.40 are the exception. Good soundstage and imaging are the plus points of HD 4.40 BT. Sennheiser delivers good soundstage These are no exception. Overall it performs well when I reviewed its sound quality. I am happy that Sennheiser made a great performing audio gear at this price range. Rich Bass, balanced mids, and decent but not so energetic highs made these audio cans an enjoyable Sennheiser headset in a budget segment. When I tried them with wired mode I didn't find much difference between wired and wireless mode. HD 4.40BT supports APT-X codec. If you have APT-X enabled device you will get better sound quality. I don't have an APT-X-enabled device so can't tell you much about that. 8 out of 10 rating for sound quality. better in this price. How is the Connectivity of HD 4.40BT?Another feature of the design that impressed me the most is its connectivity. HD 4.40 gives you 3 options to connect your source with it. It supports up to the 4.0 Bluetooth version which might feel older but practically it does a great job. NFC feature is also available with 4.40BT. just keep your device near the left earcup and you will be connected to HD 4.40BT. another mode of connectivity is the wired mode. With the Audio cable with 2.5mm and 3.5mm jack plug, you can use it as a wired headphone. APT-X codec gives better audio quality. If you have an APT-X device you get the most out of HD 4.40BT. I faced no issue with connection with HD 4.40BT. I observed that it works fine up to 40 feet which was great for me. I would give 9 out of 10 for the connectivity. how to connect sennheiser wireless headphones HD 4.40BT?when you switch on the headphones for the first time HD 4.40 automatically pairs with the source. if headphones don't connect automatically switch off the headphone and then press the power button for a few seconds. after hearing the voice prompt "power on" turn on the Bluetooth of your phone or tablet. then you will find the name HD 4.40 BT on your phone. select the name and enter the pin "0000" if required. If you already paid them with many devices they will connect automatically to the recently connected device when you turn the Bluetooth on of that recently connected device. to connect your HD 4.40BT with your device make sure that your device isn't more than 20cm away from the headphones. How is the Charging and Battery performance of HD 4.40BT?Sennheiser HD 4.40 BT has good battery life. It takes 2 hours to charge completely and delivers 25 hours of battery life. I didn't use it continuously for 25 hours but I need to charge it only once a week. I prefer listening to music at 80-90% volume. red LED light indicates that the battery is going to die. A flashing blue light tells you that charging is complete. USB charging cable with the USB connector comes with the package. Overall, thumbs up for the battery life. |
