Hyundai announced pricing for the refreshed 2023 Palisade on Thursday, following the SUV's debut at the New York Auto Show in April. The updated Palisade will start at $36,245 for the base SE and reaches as high as $52,095 for the upscale Calligraphy, including a $1,295 destination charge. Across the board, the 2023 Palisade is more expensive than its predecessor. The SE's base price represents a $1,350 increase, while the top-end Calligraphy with all-wheel drive sees a $1,810 hike. Chalk it up to the 2023 model's expanded feature set, which includes an optional 12-inch touchscreen infotainment display and Digital Key technology. The updated Palisade looks a bit nicer inside, too. You can get the XRT with front- or all-wheel drive. HyundaiThe other big news for 2023 is the addition of a Palisade XRT trim, which is what's pictured here. The XRT builds off the midgrade SEL but adds unique 20-inch wheels, new lower bumpers, a dark grille finish, cross bars for the roof rails and leatherette seating surfaces. Opt for the all-wheel-drive XRT and you get hill-descent control, an AWD lock setting and an additional Snow driving mode. The XRT costs $41,545 with front-wheel drive or $43,445 with all-wheel drive, again inclusive of a $1,295 delivery fee. There's definitely a growing trend of automakers bolstering their SUV lineups with off-road-ish models. Hyundai offers the XRT treatment on the Tucson and Santa Fe, though not necessarily to great success. Key Palisade competitors like the Ford Explorer and Kia Telluride have light-duty off-road packages, too, though with actual ride height and tire upgrades, those SUVs also have increased capability. The Palisade XRT, meanwhile, is all show and no go. Regardless of trim level, the 2023 Palisade uses the same 3.8-liter V6 engine as before, tuned to produce 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. All models come with an eight-speed automatic transmission, as well. Look for the refreshed Palisade to arrive in Hyundai showrooms this summer. The 2023 Hyundai Palisade will be up to $5711 – or close to eight per cent – more expensive than before, when the facelifted range arrives in showrooms next month (August 2022). Revealed in April, the facelifted Palisade large SUV range gains a new look, more technology and upgraded safety – but carries over Hyundai's petrol V6 and turbo-diesel four-cylinder engines, offered in two model grades: Elite and Highlander. Prices start from $65,900 plus on-road costs, and span up to $79,900 – increases of between $3700 and $5711, depending on variant. The unnamed base model (simply called 'Palisade' and originally listed at $55,700 to $59,700 plus on-road costs) has been axed, after accounting for less than 10 per cent of sales. When it launched at the end of 2020, the Hyundai Palisade was priced from $60,000 to $75,000 plus on-road costs, for the same two-model, two-engine range – meaning the 2023 range is $4900 to $5900 dearer. Leading the updates coinciding with the price rises is an upgraded safety suite, which includes new advanced safety features, and an airbag between the front seats designed to prevent front head-strike between front-seat occupants in a severe side-impact crash. The safety upgrades follow a four-star safety rating issued for the pre-facelift Hyundai Palisade by independent safety body ANCAP in early June – the only current ANCAP-rated vehicle in the non-luxury large SUV segment without five stars. ANCAP has previously indicated plans for the "safety-related changes introduced to the updated [Palisade] model [to] be assessed" – though when this will occur is yet to be confirmed. Above: 2023 Hyundai Palisade Highlander. Other upgrades include intersection support for the autonomous emergency braking system, multi-collision braking, and traffic sign recognition. Australia will miss out on the second-row side airbags (for passengers' bodies) available in the US, though head-protecting curtain airbags remain for all three rows. Alongside safety, the Palisade's general suite of tech features has been given a boost, with the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster offered since launch in the US now available in Australia – along with Hyundai's suite of Bluelink connected car services. A new 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen is fitted across the range for the 2023 model – up from 10.25 inches – while a digital rear-view mirror, second-row seat ventilation and a higher-power wireless phone charger are among the new features. Powering the Palisade is a choice of a 217kW/355Nm 3.8-litre non-turbo petrol V6 with front-wheel drive, or a 147kW/440Nm 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engines with all-wheel drive. The Hyundai Palisade and half-a-size-smaller Santa Fe family SUVs have been effectively level in sales in recent months, with 2222 Palisades reported as sold so far this year, compared with 2119 Santa Fes.
