English nanny and governess school reviews
If I could give no stars I would. I am an alum of the school and this school is absolutely terrible from a business and customer service perspective. I read all of these horrible reviews prior to being a student and thought they were all over reactions. However now as an alum I have come to see that all of the reviews are true. Management is so sketchy, and does not conduct normal or good business practices. Example:I entered a financial contract with The English Nanny and Governess School in 2015 to pay back a student loan that they had awarded to me, I signed a legally binding contract with the school for my repayment plan. Recently I have had financial hardship and contacted the school in a timely manner via e-mail and phone to let them know if I was unable to pay for any reason. With this notification I also gave them a specific date or time period when I would be able to resume payments. However English Nanny and Governess School management has repeatedly harassed and threatened me with undocumented fees as well as threats of lawsuits over my financial hardship. These continuous negative interactions have caused me severe distress. Also the school and I mutually came to an agreement on a specific and consistent withdrawal date (that was also in writing)for funds to be taken out of my bank account that the school has failed to abide by. The English Nanny and Governess School now refuses to give me any notification of when they will be withdrawing funds or even if they will be withdrawing on the agreed upon date. I do not recommend this school at all. Its the hugest waste of time, money and energy, they don't require for you to have any child care experience nor do they care if you genuinely enjoy child care as a career. After my 3rd placement I came to the conclusion I hated being a Governess and I told the school this. The school continued to pressure me to take another job with them. THEY DO NOT CARE AT ALL.

Terrible. The interview coordinator Andrea was terribly childish. When a scheduling dispute arose, she actually hung up on me three time in a row. Unbelievably rude and unprofessional. Do not use this service. Total waste of time.

I'm currently attending the school and I love it. The curriculum is out of this world amazing and all of the teachers are beyond qualified and experts in their field!

Do people still hire governesses?

Though a “governess” may sound like someone you'd only find in a nineteenth-century British novel, they do still exist. Governesses are a specialized subset of nannies, whose position focuses primarily on a child's educational development.

What's the difference between a nanny and a governess?

A nanny is more likely to work with babies, toddlers, and young children, focusing on their basic care needs and supporting their developmental milestones. However, a governess is more focused on education, and as such they usually work with children who are at school, from around age 6 upwards.

What are the duties of a governess?

A Governess helps with schoolwork and/or acts as a tutor for the children. They do this by supervising daily homework and work. A Governess is responsible for keeping the room where the children work clean and organized.

What is a nursery governess?

A governess is a woman employed to teach and train children in a private household. She typically provides education, discipline, and moral guidance to the children under her care. The role of a governess has evolved over time but remains an important part of childcare for some families.
