Instead of my usual year-end review, I decided to divide them in different category. Anyway, most of Johnny-starring dramas this year are ratings nightmare, but it doesn’t really mean that they were all that bad. In fact, I’ve learned so much with each dramas and that is something I want to share.

Lessons I learned from Dramas

• Shitsuren Chocolatier

What I learned : Chocolate is a cure for heartbreak but it doesn’t make you immune from it and it doesn’t make you a better lover either.

• Yowakutemo Katemasu

What I learned : Forget all about theories and experiments, you’ll still lose.

• Shinigami-kun

What I learned : You can extend your life span but you’ll still die.

• Nobunaga no Chef season 2

What I learned : Food is mightier than sword. After all, no one fights a battle on an empty stomach.

• SMOKING GUN

What I learned : Food is mightier than a gun and it all takes a donut.

• HERO 2

What I learned : Always re-investigate the case because detectives always miss something crucial.

• Suikyu Yankees

What I learned : Be very careful who your child meets, it will affect his affect his future especially his hair color and taste in fashion.

• Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo NEO

What I learned : It takes three or four murders before you can solve a mystery. Pray that you have to die last.

• Kagi no Kakatta Heya SP

What I learned : It takes three or four murders to solve a mystery, pray that it’s a locked room murder or you’ll be sorry.

• SHARK

What I learned : Disbanding a bitch, go solo.

• SHARK 2

What I learned : It should have been called “Cloud5”.

• Gomen ne Seishun

What I learned : Atone for your sins by marrying the younger sister and get the job that you’ve always wanted.

• Kurufuku Monogatari

What I learned : Night life is full of women, booze, and punches in your face. In short, there’s nothing really magical about it.

• Jigoku-sensei Nube

What I learned : Leave the town and settle somewhere else.

• Dr. DMAT

What I learned : Let’s all bully Hibiki because making him feel useless is a sure way for him to move his ass.

• Kindaichi Shonen no Jikenbo 2014 SP

What I learned : Never ever enroll your child in a prison school. Seriously, who does that?

• Kindaichi Kosuke VS Akechi Kogoro Futatabi SP

What I learned : Kindaichi Hajime’s grandfather had it tough.

• Kinkyori Renai ~Season Zero~

What I learned : It’s hard to choose between two girls that you’ve known forever when you can always date your student in the future.

• Naze Shojowa Yukai Sa Renakereba Naranakatta no Ka? SP

What I learned : Don’t trust mothers who are too nice, wears too red lipstick, and those with social media accounts.

*I only included dramas that I’ve watched and those that starred Johnny’s in lead roles.

Rants & Raves : Trailer

It’s February, the dreaded month for singles. haha. Oh well, Mozilla keeps on crashing and lagging, which is where my tumblr account is so I decided to do this while I wait for the site to repair itself.

• Jacket cover for Arashi’s “Sakura” is out and the vibe is quite similar with their “au mobile” cm in the past

That’s what my first reaction when I saw the jacket cover but you can never go wrong with black and white. It looks cool on them in contrast with the single’s generic title. Even though the vibe is very much like Ouroboros, I was expecting them to be all pink since the song’s title is “Sakura” but I guess they went for the unexpected route.

• Jacket cover for NEWS “WHITE” album is also out

Well, the cover is expected that it looks boring. I somehow missed the bold colors of KAGUYA. Also, what are they wearing? Are they gonna enter some sort of seminary or monastery?

• First trailer of Kimura Takuya’s “HERO” movie is now out, you can check it HERE.

The first trailer doesn’t really tell much about the movie but, ugh, Kimura looks older. I mean, he is old, but his face is scrunch-up that it shows age. I guess too much sun (since he surfs) and smoking can really damage your skin in the long run.

• New (longer) trailer for Yamada Ryosuke’s “Assasination Classrom” is now up at the movie’s website, here.

The Yamada-heavy trailer looks cool and more interesting than reading the manga. The fighting scenes looks tame and the CG looks good too. Congrats to Yamada for getting this much exposure in his first movie. I can’t wait for “Grasshopper”.

• New trailer for Ikuta Toma’s “Yokoku-han” movie, check it here.

Ahhh! The movie looks fierce, Ikuta has his hair styled like that in “Nou Otoko”, and I can’t wait to see him together with Toda Erika. Toda always looks cool when she plays a detective like in SPEC. XD.

• TOKIO’s Joshima Shigeru will star in drama SP this spring for “Asahiyama Zoo Story 2015” where he will play a zookeeper

Another “job” to add in his expansive resume from being an idol, band leader, carpenter, and now a zookeeper. Not just any zookeeper, but a hippopotamus zookeeper, which is quite rare, I think.

• Male celebrity ranking who are often mistaken as Johnny’s, are: (1) Koike Teppei, (2) Wentz Eiji, (3) Miura Haruma; (4) Narimiya Hiroki; (5) Miura Shohei; and 6 and up, here.

LOL at WaT being in the Top 2, they do look like Johnny’s and Eiji can be mistaken as Takki’s little brother. I agree with the top 2, not so much with Miura Haruma since I know from the start that he’s from AMUSE, Miura Shohei can also be mistaken for being in Johnny’s. I guess it’s because he starred with Kame and Jin among others in Gokusen 2. However, I have no idea how they could mistook Narimiya Hiroki as a Johnny. Seriously? I love Narimiya, he’s an awesome actor but an idol? XD. Well, I must confess, I used to believe that Oguri Shun is in Johnny’s. haha. I told this to a friend of mine and she was like, “can you see him dancing?”. Well, no.

Rumor Round-Up (Digest 018)

Before I concentrate on making recaps tomorrow, here are some rumors that will either amuse or irk you.

Involved parties, are: Ninomiya Kazunari, Yamada Ryosuke, Yamashita Tomohisa, Kamenashi Kazuya, Imai Tsubasa, Tomoya Nagase, Domoto Koichi, Ohno Satoshi, and Machida Shingo.

• Ninomiya Kazunari is the voice behind Koro-sensei of “Assassination Classroom” movie?

As reported earlier, Hey!Say!JUMP‘s Yamada Ryosuke will star in live adaptation of “Assassination Classroom“. Yamada will play the role of Nagisa, one of the student of Koro-sensei, an alien who is out to destroy the world and it will be up to Nagisa and co. to kill him. Well, rumor has it that the voice behind the CG-made Koro-sensei is none other than Arashi‘s Ninomiya Kazunari. Not only that, the movie’s theme song will be sung by a special unit called “Sensations”, a 9-member group produced by Koro-sensei, who is rumored to be Nino. Why Nino? Well, it’s all part of JE’s “barter system” where if you signed one JE talent for something, someone should go with him as well. Anyway, fans are eagerly waiting for the movie’s stage greeting where the voice behind Koro-sensei is likely to be revealed.

Some fans can really be delusional. haha. Or maybe it’s true after all. Well, I watched the trailer again and even though there might be similarities, if the production was able to make Koro-sensei out of CGs then it’s highly likely that they can also manipulate the seiyuu’s voice to make it sound like Nino’s, not that they did it on purpose. Also, I’m familiar with JE’s barter system, let’s take any SMAP member’s drama for example where someone from Kisumai is likely to be there. However, Yamada is already an established idol, not as big as Nino, but why would Nino be the bartered when he can definitely be the main lead?

• Yamapi’s acting ability criticized for “Flowers of Algernon”

The modern version of the classic novel is yet to air and there are already criticisms with this Yamashita Tomohisa‘s starrer. One thing people criticized is Yamapi’s acting ability for his role as mentally-retarded turned genius. Even though Yamapi has hit dramas under his belt (SUMMER NUDE highest rating is 17.4% and Code Blue highest rating is 21.2%), his acting ability must be evaluated since most people comment that “he has no expression” and that “he has no intonation in his dialogue”. Furthermore, Yamapi is described for only having good looks and was called the guy version of Horikita Maki.

This rumor is expected since Yamapi has an upcoming drama and that there were negative reactions when he was chosen for the role. As for the Maki comment, Horikita can act, you just have to watch her projects where she’s different from her usual roles. Try Ume-chan sensei among others instead of her usual idol-like dramas.

• Surprising best friends in Johnny’s

Bet you didn’t know that they were friends, I’m surprised myself since I didn’t really watched them as juniors. Anyway, KAT-TUN‘s Kamenashi Kazuya and Tackey&Tsubasa’s Imai Tsubasa are friends way back their Junior years and both are Hanshin Tiger’s fan. Next are TOKIO‘s Nagase Tomoya and KinKi Kids Domoto Koichi are friends way back junior high years. The two go on trip in between work eveb after they became famous and when Koichi moved-in to a new condominium unit, his first visitor is Nagase. Last is Arashi‘s Ohno Satoshi and MA‘s (Musical Academy) Machida Shingo known for their “Omachi Combi” way back their Junior years. The two got closer during “Johnnys Fantasy Kyo to Kyo” where they stayed at the same inn while in Kyoto, they also enrolled at the same high school and dropped-out together, until Ohno debuted in Arashi. Although, there are no news whether they still get together, Machida gave a celebratory message to Ohno for Arashi’s 15th anniversary.

Summer is here! I can feel the heat and I’m in need of new sunnies everyday. XD. Anyway, here are some bits and pieces of hot and not so hot news from Johnny’s land. Involved parties, are: Ikuta Toma, Yamada Ryosuke, Yokoyama Yu, Matsumoto Jun, BUSAIKU, Ueda Tatsuya, and Okada Junichi.

• Save the date! Nov 7th will be the day we’ll get to see the awesomeness of Ikuta Toma and Hey!Say!JUMP‘s Yamada Ryosuke for their movie, “Grasshopper“. Trailer is not yet out but click here for the movie’s synopsis.

• Kanjani8‘s Yokoyama Yu will be starring in a stage play, titled: “Blue Moon“, which will start this April. “Blue Moon” is a romantic comedy that goes beyond time and space. This is Yokoyama’s first stage play after 9 years.

• White day is almost here (in Japan) and as girls eagerly awaits for their “return gifts” from guys, Only★Star surveyed their readers who they want to received a “white day’s gift”. Based from 300 readers, taking the top spot is Arashi‘s Matsumoto Jun, and the rest of ranking can be found, HERE.
• Some fans of BUSAIKU! got involved in a stampede when the group appeared in the live broadcast of PON! 3 people were lightly bruised when a part of the stage have collapsed. BUSAIKU is not yet in the studio when the accident happened and NTV have issued an apology. I know it’s hard but BE CALM.

• KAT-TUN‘s Ueda Tatsuya is out to challenge the extreme by taking part in TBS’s “Zen sekai kyokugen survival“. Ueda will challenge his survival skills by spending 100 hours in the Arctic circle where temperature drops to -50 degrees Celsius and is known to be polar bears territory.

• Fresh from his Japan Academy win, V6‘s Okada Junichi will return as Hirakata’s Park “Big Brother” as he successfully helped the park to reached last year’s goal of 1 million visitors. The Osaka-based park was visited by 1,047,246 people last year and even though the said quota is not this year’s goal, this year will be a “Thank You Year” and Okada is still out to reform the park.

Ninomiya Kazunari Revealed as the Voice of Koro-sensei

All Arashians/Arashics are now patting their backs for knowing this fact beforehand. All hail Johnny’s barter system. XD

Last Mar 21st, Hey!Say!JUMP‘s Yamada Ryosuke attended the stage greeting for his first movie, “Ansatsu Kyoushitsu“, at TOHO Cinemas in Roppongi. The movie also stars, Shiina Kippei, Suda Masaki, Yamamoto Maika, Taketomi Seika, Mio Yuki, Uehara Miku, and JiYoung among others.

“Ansatsu Kyoushitsu” tells the story of an alien homeroom teacher who came to earth to teach the students of Class 3-E at Kunugigaoka Junior High School on different ways of assassination. The students of Class 3-E (End class) were entrusted by the Japanese government to kill their teacher for the prize of 10 Billion Yen before graduation and before he can destroy the earth. However, the task have been proven difficult as their “Korosensei” possessed several inhuman capabilities.

During the stage greeting, the voice behind the CG character, Koro-sensei, was finally introduced and it’s none other than Arashi‘s Ninomiya Kazunari. Ninomiya looks just as surprise when his name was called. He apologizes and says that he doesn’t want his evil character to stand-out in his kouhai‘s first movie so he only came out now. Equally surprise is Yamada who says that it’s an honor to be working with senpai even in that form. Ninomiya’s involvement had been a secret to the entire cast.

Rumor Round-Up (Digest 020)

HSJ babies are really grown-ups! Despite their sizes, one is being rumored to his co-star and one is drinking alone. haha. Other than that, another ikemen joins them in this rumor digest who is known to be dating an actress for 8 years. Involved parties, are: Yamada Ryosuke, Chinen Yuri, and Junnosuke Taguchi.

• Yamada Ryosuke is flirting with Hashimoto Kanna?

Hey!Say!JUMP‘s Yamada Ryosuke and Rev.from DVL‘s Hashimoto Kanna are co-stars in Yamada’s first movie, “Ansatsu Kyoushitsu”. It was the first time that the two met during the movie’s stage greeting last March. Hashimoto’s character in the movie is a CG. For first impressions, Yamada says that she’s cuter than the CG and he said “cute” in a dere dere way (lovestruck). Yamada also mentioned that he wanted to meet Hashimoto sooner when he heard about her from a member. Also, when the movie’s cast guested in “VS Arashi”, a fan commented that Yamada and Hashimoto were being icha icha (lovey-dovey) and because of this, fans became suspicious and worried on the friendship between the two.

I guess the member that Yamada mentioned is Yuto since Kanna and Yuto worked together in “Suikyu Yankees”. Well, it’s either Yamada is just being his flirty and teasing self or he really likes her. I’m scared what will happen to Hashimoto if this is true considering that Nishiuchi Mariya was forced to drop-out of Horikoshi because of Yamada’s insane fans who won’t leave her alone.

• Chinen Yuri drinking alone

Hey!Say!JUMP‘s Chinen Yuri pictured (above) drinking alone at a bar in Roppongi. It was around 11 PM when he entered the bar and it’s not one of those “members-only” bar. Chinen seems familiar with the bartender as he chats with him as soon as he sat down. Few minutes later, he went out, and when he came back, he has a bag of takeaway food with him. So he ate his food as he continues to chat with the bartender. Past midnight, Chinen decided to do some karaoke singing and belted out a Tokunaga Hideaki ballad. Anyway, Chinen received a round of applause from the bar’s patrons after his song. The said bar isn’t frequented by other Hey!Say!JUMP members but Kanjani8‘s Maruyama Ryuhei is a known regular. Chinen and Maruyama previously worked in “Jigoku Sensei Nube!“.

So maybe Maru decided to stood-up Chinen so Chinen went drinking alone. haha. Anyway, he stills looks cute, chibi but cute.

• Junno Taguchi’s Sakura viewing with Komine Rena and mother

KAT-TUN‘s Junno Taguchi and actress Komine Rena have been known to be dating and cohabitating for the past 8 years. Aside from adopting a dog, the two seem to be still in blissful state as they were photographed having a picnic while viewing the sakuras. Aside from the couple, another figure is seen with them who looks like to be Komine’s mother since she’s often seen in Komine’s salon.

Its the middle of summer and before I melt from this intense summer heat, here are some news and not-so-news that I’m too lazy to translate fully. Involved parties, are: Nakayama Yuma, Yamada Ryosuke, Tamamori Yuta, Katori Shingo, and Matsumoto Jun.

• There’s life after NYC and aside from promoting his single, “YOLO Moment”, Nakayama Yuma is off to his solo tour this May. The said tour will happened in three cities with six performances.

• Speaking of NYC, former NYC and still Hey!Say!JUMP‘s center, Yamada Ryosuke, is starring in the movie “Ansatsu Kyoshitsu“. The said movie have mobilized 2 million audiences and a movie reviewer have good words for Yamada’s first movie. The writer described him as “petite” and “coupled with woman features”, and also mentioned that Yamada shows no discomfort in playing a high school student even though he’s already an adult. Come to think of it, is the writer being sarcastic? haha. Well, high school student rank as no.1 among Johnny’s most popular role according to my survey. XD
• It was announced that there will be a live-action Death Note TV drama. Even though the movie had been well received, plans for the drama has been criticized for being placed in a late-night timeslot and the chance that someone from EXILE or Johnny’s will play the main roles, which is like scarier than the Shinigami.

• As reported earlier, Kis-My-Ft2‘s Tamamori Yuta will have his silver screen debut opposite of Nishiuchi Mariya in “Raintree no Kuni“. The movie will hit the theaters on Nov 21st and for his first movie, Tamamori underwent some speech training since his character is a Kansai native. Uhm, he can always ask Kanjani8 for help.

• The gorgeous cast for “Galaxy Kaidou” starring SMAP‘s Katori Shingo and Ayase Haruka had been revealed. Aside from the two stars playing an alien couple, Oguri Shun, Endo Kenichi, Akimoto Sayaka, Nishida Toshiyuki, Yuka, Yamamoto Koji and more will join them in Galaxy in this Mitani Koki movie.

• Speaking of gorgeous, Arashi’s Matsumoto Jun is back gooing babies and showing to us that he is a father material in his new CM for Goo. Check it out, here.

Assassination Classroom Gets a Movie Sequel

Yamada’s first movie is definitely a HIT!

It was announced that “Ansatsu Kyoshitsu (Assassination Classroom)” will have a movie sequel in 2016. The said announcement was made during the movie’s mega-hit thanks stage greeting at TOHO cinemas in Roppongi Hills. Ansatsu Kyoshitsu stars Hey!Say!JUMP‘s Yamada Ryosuke, it’s his first movie and Arashi‘s Ninomiya Kazunari serves as the voice of Koro-sensei.

The movie reached two million people in attendance last Apr 19th and have earned 25 billion Yen in the box-office. The sequel will have a working title, “Ansatsu Kyoushitsu~Sotsugyo Hen~” that will the theaters in 2016. Yamada is surprised when the sequel announcement was made and commented that the production really loves making surprises.

“Ansatsu Kyoshitsu” also stars Suda Masaki, Yamamoto Maika, Uehara Miku, Hashimoto Kanna, Kang Jiyoung, and Shiina Kippei among others. It tells the story of Class 3-E who are entrusted to kill Koro-sensei before their graduation or before Koro-sensei destroys the earth. It’s also a hit manga and the 2nd season for the anime is already in the works.

Yamada Ryosuke to Star in 24 Hr TV Drama Special

The main star for 24 Hr TV‘s annual sobfest has finally been revealed and it’s none other than Hey!Say!JUMP‘s Yamada Ryosuke. The choice for this year’s actor is expected though it could have been better if it’s the other member. Also, its disappointing that someone from V6 won’t be participating in the drama. Instead of V6’s Okada or Inocchi, NEWS‘s Masuda Takahisa will star as Yamada’s older brother in this another cancer drama. Not a bad bargain but I still wished it was V6.

The drama is titled, “Okasan, Ore wa daijoubu (Mom, I’m Okay)”, where Yamada will play the role of Sasaki Ryohei*, a high school student and soccer club’s vice captain, who was diagnosed with acute brain tumor. The story will revolve around Sasaki’s struggle to play soccer while fighting the cancer. This is Yamada’s 3rd time to appear in a 24 Hr TV drama special but its his first time as the lead actor.

As stated earlier, Masuda will be Yamada’s older brother, Shimoda Shota as his younger brother, Akai Hidekazu as the father, and Yasuda Narumi as the mother.

“Mom, I’m Okay” will air at NTV on Aug 22nd as part of 24 Hr TV~Love Saves the Earth~ yearly special.

Additional Cast for “Grasshopper” Announced

New cast were announced for Ikuta Toma‘s newest badass movie, “Grasshopper“. As badass as Ikuta is Hey!Say!JUMP‘s Yamada Ryosuke, who will return as an assassin, after he played a student assassin in live adaptation of “Ansatsu Kyoshitsu“.

The movie is based from bestselling novel of Isaka Kotaro that tells the story of once law-abiding teacher named Suzuki (Ikuta) who joined a criminal organization, Reijou, to avenge his lover. Suzuki will meet two different assassins, the knife-wielding Semi (Yamada) and suicide-driven Kujira (Asano Tadanobou), and the story will show how their lives will interlaced.

Asano was earlier mentioned as one of the assassins while the rest of the cast, are: Haru as Suzuki’s fiance, Aso Kumiko as the mystery housewife, Nanao as the yankee celebrity, Uzaki Ryudo as Kujira’s father, Yoshioka Hidetaka, Murakami Jun, Ishibashi Renji, and Kaneko Norihito.

“Grasshopper” will be directed by Takimoto Tomoyuki, the same director whom Ikuta worked with in “Nou Otoko“. Surely, this movie will have loads of action and angst. However, judging from the storyline, it has a bit of “Ouroboros” with all those revenge and so.

It’s my 20th Bits & Pieces, a blog post that I started out of laziness to translate everything. Oh well, here are some news and not-so-news that I’m too lazy to translate or were too short. Involved parties, are: Yamada Ryosuke, Tegoshi Yuya, Inagaki Goro, Nakayama Yuma, KOKI, and Machida Shingo.

• Shimizu Fumika will play as Yamada Ryosuke‘s heroine for his upcoming 24 Hr TV special drama, “Okasan, Ore wa daijoubu“. Okay, she’s not really the heroine but she will play as Sasaki’s (Yamada) classmate who has a crush on him and as expected, it will be an unrequited love.

• NEWS‘s Tegoshi Yuya mentioned in his radio program that he wants to go back to Sweden for TegoMass’s 10th anniversary. Together with Masuda Takahisa, the duo will be celebrating their 10th anniversary next year and going to Sweden is Tegoshi’s wish. Tegomass, who debuted in 2006, released their first single “Miso Soup” at the said country and even made a promotional tour. I’m sure that Tegoshi and Massu have fond memories of Sweden and I’m sure the Swedish fans won’t also forget Miso Soup’s jacket cover.

• AKB girls have been a favorite guest in SMAP‘s variety shows and now, Inagaki Goro and former AKB center, Oshima Yuko, will be starring in a stage play titled “No. 9 Fumetsu no Sinretsu“. Goro will star as Beethoven in the said musical. In the picture above, Goro is already 41 and it’s either he really looks that young or it took a large amount of Photoshop to make him look like he just debuted.

• In another musical, Nakayama Yuma attended the production announcement for his first solo stage play “The Picture of Dorian Gray“. Yuma will play as the always youthful Dorian Gray and for his first solo stage play, Nakayama had 50 t-shirts made with picture of Dorian Gray at his own expense. Now that is generous.

• In the world of “Former Johnny’s”, KOKI, who have gotten another imechen, got the taste of his first overseas live performance with his band INKT at Brazil.

• Another “Former Johnny’s”, Machida Shingo of Johnny’s Jr unit, MAD, opened a twitter account after resigning from Johnny’s and he’s also an aspiring designer. The close friend of Arashi‘s Ohno Satoshi and one-half of the “Omachi Combi” seems to be one of the designers behind the accessory brand called “LOL“. It’s cool that not only Ohno and Machida are BFF but they are also both artists. Not sure if this is his official IG page for LOL but do check it out, here. Who the heck is Cindy?

• Did anyone manage to see “Ansatsu Kyoshitsu” (Asssassination Classroom) at Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BiFan) in South Korea? Well, the movie starring Hey!Say!JUMP’s Yamada Ryosuke won the “BiFan 2015: Federation Award for Best Asian Film” as chosen by representatives of European Fantastic Film Festival Federation (EFFFF). The movie grossed 2.77 billion Yen in Japan, have a sequel in the making, and is also expected to be shown in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Omedatou to all the cast!

• Another winner in Fantasy Category is Kanjani8‘s Shibutani Subaru at the 19th Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal, Canada. Subaru was named as the “Best Actor” for his portrayal as the amnesiac turned band vocalist in “Misono Universe” with an international title of “La La La at Rock Bottom“. You’re now a certified actor Subaru!

• From fantasy, to a semi-fantasy/period drama turned movie, expect to see Kis-My-Ft2‘s Fujigaya Taisuke in his retainer role for the movie version of popular manga and drama “Nobunaga Concerto“. Let’s all see him swoon toward Nobunaga (Shun Oguri) and long-hair Taipi isn’t so bad.

What’s been happening in Johnny’s land lately? Here are some of the news and not-so-news that I was too lazy to translate. Collated from Aug 11th-16th and involved parties, are: Yamada Ryosuke, Masuda Takahisa, Takizawa Hideaki, Kimura Takuya, and Tamamori Yuta, Here is Bits & Pieces 022

• The synopsis for Hey!Say!JUMP‘s Yamada Ryosuke‘s 24 Hr TV drama special, “Okasan, Ore wa daijoubu“, is already up on the drama’s website. I’m sure that most of you are already familiar with the generic theme of 24 Hr TV drama but this is how it goes: Sasaki Ryohei is a high school student living in Shimane. He grew up without his mother since his mother devoted herself to take care of another brother who has been living in the hospital due to an incurable disease . He was just appointed as the vice captain of a small and weak soccer team where his colleagues strives each day to qualify for the prefectural tournament. One day, Ryohei is rushed to the hospital because of severe headache, his older brother Teppei (Masuda Takahisa), was also called to home from Kyoto. At the hospital, it was found that Ryohei is suffering from acute brain tumor, a surgery was performed; however, the surgery has to be stopped since the tumor is on the crucial part of the brain. The family was told that Ryohei won’t be living for long but a miracle happened and he woke-up from unconsciousness…

• Takizawa Hideaki was featured in FRaU magazine about his Hongkong trip. The 1/2 of Tackey&Tsubasa went to Hongkong, 10 years after his first visit, to sample some of their new and traditional offerings.
• Speaking of Takki doing visits, the cast of “Takizawa Kabuki” will be in Singapore this August as part of “Takizawa Kabuki’s 10th anniversary” and the goods have already arrived. Fans who will be attending the play can now buy the goods at Johnny’s net. I’m not so sure if the goods will also be available at the venue but the price are pretty expensive. SGD 28.00 for a brochure when I can already use that to enter Gardens by the Bay. Geez, Johnny.

• SMAP‘s Kimura Takuya made a surprise appearance at Ameba FRESH studio at Harajuku in Tokyo. The cast of HERO movie are set to appear in the studio for TOKYO FM but Kimura’s appearance wasn’t announced so fans and passers-by, particularly the women, were in awe when Kimura arrived.

• Kis-My-Ft2 will be having two singles for Tamamori Yuta‘s two upcoming projects. Fresh from his “an an” sex issue, Tamamori will be appearing in autumn/fall drama, “Seishun Tantei Haruya“, and another movie project with the gorgeous Nishiuchi Mariya in “Raintree no Kuni“. Because of Tamamori’s two projects, Kisumai will be doing songs for their fellow member and I’m sure that their fans is rejoicing.

It was a stressful and frustrating week, it had been sad and tiring but quite fulfilling (on the work side). Oh well, enough of my personal drama, while I was busy with my solving problems, here are some news and not so news that I missed. Involved parties, are: Kanjani8, Arashi, Jin Akanishi, Yamapi, Tamamori Yuta, Ikuta Toma, and Yamada Ryosuke.

• The end of August is like the announcements for albums and what follows an album is definitely a TOUR. Kanjani8 announces that they’ll be having a 5-Dome tour aside from a new album titled: “Kanjani8 no genki ga deru CD!!“.

• Speaking of new album, Arashi will also be releasing an album called “Japonism“. The title sounds cool and I hope that the songs will be cooler. Arashi is scheduled for a local version of their “BLAST in HAWAII”, which is “BLAST in MIYAGI“. The said 4 day concert will also double as a charity work to help the Miyagi prefecture’s economy. The prefecture are among those that were greatly affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake. Since most of the fans will be traveling far, JR East line announced that they’ll be having extra trains for Arashi’s 4-day concert. The said train will travel from Sendai-Rifu station to Tokyo station.

• In the land of former Johnny’s, the notorious Jin Akanishi announced that he will be starting his own fashion line. You can check-out his jinstagram for a sneak peek of his upcoming designs and I can now picture Kikuchi Fuma making reservations.

• Let’s move on to one of Jin’s BFF, Yamapi, who is back as Tsuneo in an all-new Doraemon‘s Toyota CM with a new character. Check-out the newest CM here.

• After you checked-out Yamapi’s lateset Toyota CM, do check-out Kis-My-Ft2‘s Tamamori Yuta‘s upcoming movie “Raintree no kuni” with the gorgeous Nishiuchi Mariya HERE. The trailer captivates the chemistry between the two, which is warm and fuzzy, but I’m still shipping Tamamori to Shiida Mirai.
• Another trailer worth checking-out is “Grasshopper” movie starring Ikuta Toma and Yamada Ryosuke. I haven’t checked the movie’s website for a long time so I’m not so sure whether the trailer is the newest. Anyway, the new trailer featured actress Haru as Ikuta’s love interest and the subject of his revenge. Check-out the badass trailer, HERE.

Just a quick heads-up to what I missed during these past few days. Involved parties, are: Chinen Yuri, Yamada Ryosuke, Ikuta Toma, Yamashita Tomohisa, and Yasuda Shota.

• “Chokousoku! Sankin Kotai” aka Cho-sankin will be getting a sequel and is scheduled to be shown next year. Filming have started and is expected to finish by October. The movie stars Hey!Say!JUMP‘s Chinen Yuri, the eternal baby-face, who plays a kyudo master (archer) in this period comedy movie.

• “Grasshopper” movie starring Ikuta Toma and Hey!Say!JUMP‘s Yamada Ryosuke have updated their website featuring a new poster and more of the movie’s badass characters. Furthermore, singer YUKI will be singing the movie’s OST.

• Kanjani8′s Yasuda Shota will challenge his first detective role in the movie “Scanner: kioku no kakera o yomu otoko“. Yasuda plays the role Sasabe Satoru, an elite detective of MPD, who holds the key in the story. Joining him is Nomura Mansai who was last seen as detective Suguro in “Oriento Kyuko Satsujin Jiken”.

• Yamapi will be playing a monk in Fuji TV’s “5→9 ~watashi ni koishita ikemen sugiru obousan~” together with Ishihara Satomi. After playing a teacher and a mentally retarted, Yamapi’s next role will be a monk who falls in love with an English teacher. Will we get to see Ishihara and Yamapi converse in English?

• After Jin Akanishi announced his upcoming fashion line, another “former Johnny” is into the fashion world with Tanaka Koki or just KOKI being the image model of VANQUISH. Rawwr!

In a nutshell, two Johnny’s will be wearing a bald cap this season starting with Ryo (okay, just semi-bald) in “Samurai Sensei” and Yamapi in his monk role! But wait, judging from the manga’s cover, I doubt that Yamapi has to worry himself about wearing a bald cap. It’s been a long time that Yamapi did a rom-com so I have to see this.

Some news and not-so-news that made the headlines. Collated from Sept 17 to 20, involved parties, are: Kis-My-Ft2, Kinki Kids, Yamapi, Nagatsuma Reo, and Yamada Ryosuke.

• Kis-My-Ft2 is having their “KIS-MY WORLD” concert tour 2015 and they have bested other Johnny’s groups when it comes to their flying stunts. In the group’s Tokyo Dome concert, the 7 member group flew as high as 25 meters, the highest so far in Johnny’s history. Tamamori Yuta likened it to a home run, only their’s is higher than the ball.
• KinKi Kids will having a winter concert this, well, winter. The duo will also be having their winter concert on Dec 31st and Jan 1st at Tokyo Dome. Okay, what will happen to Johnny’s countdown?

• Yamapi shared during the presscon of “5→9 ~watashi ni koishita ikemen sugiru obousan” with Ishihara Satomi that he already did the “takigyo” ritual. The cleansing ritual is a common practice in Shintoism where monks have to reflect under a waterfall. Yamapi jokes that the scene was pretty hard and wonders if his worldly desires were washed away as well. I wonder if he did takigyo wearing nothing but a fundoshi. haha.

• Speaking of “5→9 ~watashi ni koishita ikemen sugiru obousan“, Johnny’s Jr. Nagatsuma Reo will be joining Yamapi, Nagatsuma reportedly audition for his role and it was decided in 3 seconds. Okay, I have nothing against Nagatsuma but its hard to believe that he auditioned for the role and it wasn’t given to him.

• Some fans have something new to ship and that’s Hey!Say!JUMP‘s Yamada Ryosuke and Suda Masaki. The two starred in “Ansatsu Kyoushitsu” and said that they have always wanted to worked together. Suda said that he has seen Yamada on TV since he was small so when he met him in person, it seemed unreal. While Yamada says that he have wanted to work with Suda whom he describes as “not a normal human being” for having that kind of acting talent in his early 20s. Oh, the shippers have also given these two a name and it’s “YamaSuda“. What can you say about this YamaChi? YutoYama?

Ikuta Toma and Yamada Ryosuke Attends “Grasshopper” Completion Showcase

Argh! I really hope that this movie will get an international release because I can’t wait to see a badass Yamada.

Ikuta Toma, Hey!Say!JUMP‘s Yamada Ryosuke, and Asano Tadanobou attended the completion showcase of their movie “Grasshopper“. Grasshopper will hit the theaters this Nov 7th.

The revenge movie tells the story of once law-abiding teacher named Suzuki (Ikuta) who joined a criminal organization, Reijou, to avenge his lover (Haru). Suzuki will meet the lonely young assassin, Semi (Yamada), and suicide-driven assassin Kujira (Asano). The story will show how their lives will interlaced.

Ikuta’s movie role is called his “weakest character” in history, a person who works enthusiastically and wouldn’t even hurt an insect. Since this is revenge movie, it’s like saying that his love for his murdered fiance made him stronger.

This is the first time that Yamada and Ikuta worked together. Yamada shared that Ikuta emailed him before the filming and Yamada received a gush of pressure. “you have to boast your seniority,” Yamada joked. If Yamada felt the pressure to work with Ikuta, Ikuta is more than happy to work with Yoshioka Hidetaka, one of their co-stars. Both actors were born in Hokkaido and Ikuta shared that he grew-up watching Yoshioka’s dramas.

I’ve been so busy, I didn’t notice that my blog finally reaches more than 1 million page views. I really thought that wordpress would be giving me some sort of notice since they do notify me when there’s heavy traffic on my blog or just like those annual reports that they send me. Anyway, even though my skin is drying due to stress from all those work overtime, I’m feeling celebratory so this week’s Rants & Raves will be good news. Also, I decided to bring the old format of R&R back.

• Yamada Ryosuke was seen shopping at ZARA in Roppongi Hills with his mother. Yamada is noted to be wearing Harry Potter-like glasses and an ensemble that resembles his mother. Aside from that, fans who noticed him said that Yamada smells good.

Rants : That is Yamada? Okay, I think I’ll just take the word of whoever took this picture that the guy is Yamada Ryosuke who also happens to be in the same height as his mother. Overall, I like his fashion sense since I also shop in ZARA, too much bling on his phone though, and what’s with him smelling good? Girls, if you can smell someone at that distance then they must have used an entire bottle of perfume, which is lame.

Raves : A guy shopping with his mother is like the cutest, this is like “Risou no Musuko” all over again without those Koala punches and so.

• INKT will participate in this year’s “SuG Fest 2015′ thanks to Alice Nine aka “A9”

Rants : I’m still not into INKT’s brand of music but I’m awed that KOKI still manage to do gigs while Jin is…well,uhm, designing.

Raves : Happy for KOKI for still doing what he loves even after leaving Johnny’s. Let’s get real, those who leave Johnny’s are treated invisible after and somehow KOKI still manage to have a presence.

• In Goo ranking’s “male celebrity who looks unfashionable in plain (civilian) clothes”, SMAP’s Nakai Masahiro takes the top spot while Kanjani8’s Yasuda Shota landed in 7th (9th) spot. [Three male celebrities tied on 7th spot]

Rants : Nakai on this ranking is expected but really, it’s so rare to see him in civilian clothes. I mean, doesn’t he always work? As for Yasu, are they not talking about those clothes that they make Kanjani8 wear?

Raves : I get Nakai but Yasu? I mean…okay, I haven’t seen too much pics with them in civilian clothes to judge.

• In Only★Star ranking on “Guys you want to take on a library date”, Arashi’s Sakurai Sho gets the top spot.

Rants : Just because Sho is brainy doesn’t mean that he wants to date in libraries. Libraries isn’t exactly romantic but I heard that there are some deserted aisles where you can have a private moment. Hah!

Raves : There was also this ranking about Sho being the

1 male celebrity they want as their teacher. I guess he’s really seen being uber smart.

Rants : So where do we go from being smart?

Raves : Uhm, libraries.

Rants : If I want a library date, I’ll go with Okada Junichi with him in his Dojo character.

Raves :That wouldn’t be date since there will be guns and so and he’ll be sadistic instead of sweet.

Rants : Well…that’s what I’m craving for. haha.

• The trailer is finally out for Nakajima Yuto’s “Pink and Gray” movie. Check it out here.

Rants : Wait, who died? I’m Nakajima-biased so damn, he looks so fine in everything.

Raves : The trailer looks so interesting that I can’t wait for next year. I have high hopes for Yuto.

Rants : Yeah, his ikemen level is outstanding.

Raves : Yuto aside, the trailer alone made me swoon on Suda.

• Wanna go for a drive with your idol? Survey says that most people (men and women) wants to go on a drive with Arashi.

Rants : It’s a wonder that the papz never caught them driving anything else. The last time I saw a paparazzi photo of Sakurai and Ohno, Sakurai was hailing a cab. There was also a FRIDAY photo of Ikuta Toma with Sho and Sho was also hailing a cab.

Raves : It must be because of those rumors on the car they drive. Aside from Ohno who doesn’t have a driving license and Sho is a cheap-o, the three are rumored to drive some fancy wheels. Though the papz never caught of it.

• Kis-My-Ft2’s Fujigaya Taisuke is named “Best Jeanist 2015” for second year in a row.

Rants : So I’m just waiting for him to be included in that Hall of Fame so someone new can be called the “Best Jeanist”. Surely, that someone new will still be from Johnny’s.

Raves : Congrats to Taipi though I’m really just thinking how I can push my ichiban to the top spot.

Rants : You can’t push your ichiban, this kind of awards are already premediated just like that “Megane” awards.

Raves : Okay, so now I’m thinking how will Johnny fix that Yuto wins next.

Rants : It’s weird though that during awards ceremony, the winners are usually wearing the most outrageous and unflattering jeans. Only Rola looks deserving of the win.

Raves : I guess the point of this award is how you can make the most outrageous jeans looks good on you.

Rants : Maybe…but it doesn’t really look good.
