Bộ phim là câu chuyện về cô bé Sakura dễ thương nhưng hơi hậu đậu một chút. Trong một lần tình cờ, Sakura Kinomoto đã tìm thấy và mở quyển sách với những là bài phép thuật do một vị pháp sư tài giỏi đã tạo ra, và rồi Sakura được chọn làm một chủ nhân mới của quyển sách.

Và rồi cô bé đã vô tình giải thoát các lá bài ma thuật làm những linh hồn của lá bài bay vào trong nhân gian và có nguy cơ gây tai họa cho thế giới. Thần thú phong ấn, Cerberus đã thức tỉnh và chỉ định Sakura là người truy bắt các lá bài, từ đó một câu chuyện mới của Sakura bắt đầu. Sakura luôn cảm thấy vui và hạnh phúc vì bên mình luôn có những người bạn đồng hành và giúp đỡ mình trong những cuộc chinh phục các linh hồn: chú chuột tiên Cerberus, người bạn thân Tomoyo, cậu bé mang dòng máu pháp sư Syaoran. Thông qua những cuộc chạm trán với những linh hồn của những lá bài đó, Sakura ngày càng trưởng thành hơn, học hỏi được nhiều điều hay và có thêm kinh nghiệm trong những lần chinh phục tiếp theo.
