HP Pavilion Desktop overheating
Excessive heat can be a problem in laptops due to their small size and the close proximity of the internal components. The HP ZD Pavilion series of laptops is no exception, even though these computers are designed to dissipate as much heat as possible. When the temperature rises, the fans spin faster and become noisier as they work to push the hot air out. Excessive heat can slow your computer down and make it uncomfortable to work on or damage system components, so prevent this from happening to avoid downtime and extra expense for your business.
When i start Watch dogs 2, Cod Warzone or just far cry primal it starts heating up to 80°C. But when i am using for other things like youtube and etc. It is usually between 32°C to 50°C. There is no dust in fans, they are perfectly working. I installed newest BIOS. All drivers are up to date. I dont get it. Need your help

My desktop keeps overheating. I checked and cleaned it all again. I thought the CPU fan was not working correctly so I had that replaced. How do I figure out what is wrong? I installed the Core Temp tool but not sure what it is telling me. Core #0 Max 94 Core #1 Max 100 Core #2 Max 93 Core #3 Max 93 Is it the CPU or the whole motherboard that is bad? Jeanne

those temps are way too hot, you need to remove the CPU heat sink from the motherboard, which is underneath the CPU fan, clean the heat sink, remove old thermal paste from the CPU and heat sink, apply new thermal paste, re-install the heat sink/CPU fan assembly Edited by mikey11, 29 April 2020 - 05:15 PM.

I missed this, sorry. Some Temp readers will not read some cpu's correctly, but CoreTemp does a pretty good job. I think we should still see the Speccy Chart to make sure. There are specific ways of applying Thermal Paste also that I like to adhere to. With most desktops it is a long thin line in a specific direction keeping it from the edges. Then when you put the Heatsink on, you give it a slight twist back and forth mashing it, then tighten the heatsink fasteners each a little bit at a time starting diagonally from corner to corner. Then go around little by little to finish them up.

The CPU fan was replaced by a repair shop because I thought they knew what they were doing and I did not have the thermal compound. I just ordered the thermal compound and I should get it by the 3rd. Then I will take the fan off, clean the CPU, and put it back with some new thermal compound. In the meantime, I will use my laptop.

Good because that is very hot and is not good to run it that hot! I would assume it overheated and dried out the thermal paste, now it needs new thermal paste. When you pull the fan and heatsink try to pay attention how easily it comes off and how dried out the old thermal paste is.

make sure you clean the old thermal paste from the CPU and heat sink, alcohol wipes are great to use, when applying the new thermal paste, less is more, you only need a spec of it, apply a small drop in the middle of the CPU, the drop should be about HALF the size of a grain of rice then install the heat sink, fan assembly Edited by mikey11, 30 April 2020 - 02:27 PM.

I like to somewhat follow ArticSilvers guidelines. Scroll to page 5 and look at QP2
